TERESA FARRIS

When young country artists redo a rock song it's usually for one of two reasons: 1. to hedge their bets and go for some crossover appeal, or 2) they just don't know the difference. Once in a great while a newcomer will dust off a rock tune and discover that it was actually a country song after all. Kudos to Teresa Farris for doing just that with the old REO Speedwagon song "Take it on the Run." Any song that starts off "Heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from another you've been messing around" has to be a country song, and even if it weren't Farris's husky downhome voice might just be strong enough to convert it. That's the good news.

The fact that Teresa Farris makes them enjoyable to listen to makes her an artist to watch out for. If she finds some material that matches her vocal talents there'll be no stopping her.
